Lynn is a lifelong Texan. She was born in Freeport, and attended public schools. Lynn graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Biochemistry.
A lifelong student of science, Lynn has worked for 25 years as a research scientist at New England Biolabs, the world leader in genomic research. She started as a scientist, and today still helps with partnership development and serves as a company manager and employee owner.
The past five years Lynn has served as CEO of Young Women’s Prep Network, a statewide public-private partnership that creates STEM-focused schools of choice in an all-girls setting.
Under Lynn’s leadership, YWPN grads have a 100% college acceptance rate – many of them first generation college goers. Lynn has a deep understanding of how we improve student achievement, and will champion this issue as Mayor.
Lynn’s family raised her to prioritize public service. As a child, she delivered for Meals on Wheels to neighbors in need, and Lynn often played piano and visited with local nursing home patients. Service continues to be an important part of Lynn’s life.
As a volunteer leader for the past 25 years, Lynn has taken on some of Dallas toughest issues, like reducing homelessness, fighting domestic abuse, improving public education and removing barriers to college for the underserved. Over three decades, Lynn has worked with scientists, philanthropists, fellow board members, civil servants, nervous parents, the homeless and more – often as the only woman at the table. She’s learned that finding common ground is the key to a successful relationship.
Lynn and her husband, Allan, met in Dallas and have been married for nearly 20 years. They live near Klyde Warren Park and attend Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
